Senior League Getting Ready For 2011
Five teams to compete in the Molson St. John’s Senior Softball League: Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs, Kelly's Pub Junior Canadians, Imagewear Custom Apparel, West Side Charlies Bud Light and Bull & Finch Bar & Grill. The new season is scheduled to open May 29th.
MAY:
Senior League Kicks Off With Double-Header
55th Senior Softball season opened on Sunday, May 29th with a doubleheader. In the first game, Kelly's Pub Junior Canadians downed Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs 5-3 and the second game saw West Side Charlies Bud Light defeat Imagewear Custom Apparel 8-6.
Intermediate League Underway
The St. John’s Intermediate Softball League opened its seventh season on Monday, May 30th with CBC Junior Canadians defeating Trimmer Holmes 8-0 and Lafontaine Club Molson defeating the Goulds 5-3.

The Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs nipped Imagewear Custom Apparel 2-1 to win the 31st Annual Molson St. John’s Day Tournament. The winning run came in the sixth inning on an RBI single by John Farrell.

Gale's Solo HR In Bottom of the 10th Inning Gives Goulds Intermediate Provincial Crown
Andrew Gale hit a game winning solo home run in the Bottom of the 10th Inning to lead Goulds to a 5-4 win over the CBC Junior Canadians in the Championship Game of the Labatt Intermediate Fastpitch Provincial Tournament. The hit capped off a perfect four-for-four performance for Gale, who drove in two runs. Mark Power (10IP, 4R, 11H, 3W, 7K) pitched the win. Liam Myers (9IP, 5R, 13H, 1W, 8K) took the loss for CBC. He also had a solo home run.

The Provincial Ladies Senior Softball Championship scheduled for St. John’s August 4 to 7 was postponed due to weather and poor field conditions. Only two of the five team thirteen game schedule were completed.

Mark Power tossed the win over Jeremy O’Reilly. Ryan Kirk hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game and force the extra inning.

Kelly's Pub Junior Canadians 4th Place Finish At Junior Nationals, Liam Myers All-Star Selection
A spirited playoff run came to an end for Kelly's Pub Junior Canadians Saturday at the National Junior (Under-23) Softball Championships in Napanee, Ontario. The Junior Canadians lost 7-4 to the host Napanee Shoeless Joe’s Saturday night to finish the tournament in fourth place with a 6-4 record.

Silver Medal for NL Selects ECSC Bantam Boys Division
The Eastern Canadian Bantam Boy's Championships held at the Lions Park in St. John’s with two teams from the Province participating NL Selects and Constable William Moss Bantams. The Selects earned a Silver with a 9-8 extra inning loss to Ontario’s Travistock Athletics in the Championship Game. The Selects finished the tournament with a 5-4 record while the Moss team finished in sixth place with a 1-5 record.

Goulds Capture Bronze Medal At ECSC Pee-Wee Boys Division
The Eastern Canadian Pee-Wee Boy's Championships played in Trenton, Nova Scotia with two teams from the province participating. Goulds defeated Quebec 7-4 in the Bronze Medal Game to finish with a 5-3 record, while Placentia finished in eighth with a 0-6 record.

Dream Kitchens defeated the Midget Selects 7-4 to sweep the Best of Three Finals and capture the Coors Light St. John’s Ladies Fastpitch Championship.

Silver Medal For WSCBL At Senior Nationals
West Side Charlies Bud Light lost one game out of 10 at the Canadian Senior Men’s Softball Championships but it was the one that counted the most. The Kitchener Hallman Twins captured their third straight title with a 4-3 win over the previously undefeated Newfoundland representatives in the gold medal game.

ICA Edged WSCBL To Take Provincial Senior Crown
Backed by the MVP performance of pitcher Harold Kelly Imagewear Custom Apparel outlasted West Side Charlies Bud Light 9-7 to win the Labatt provincial senior men’s softball championship. The veteran Kelly allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks to pick up the win. He struckout seven. Jason Hill started and was tagged with the loss. Fergie Griffiths, Justin Gill and Sheldon Keough had two hits for the winners. Jason Hill was three for four with a pair of home runs in a losing cause.

Bull & Finch Bar & Grill Sweep Senior League Title
Colin Abbott celebrated his birthday in grand style Saturday smashing a bases loaded home run that provided Bull & Finch Bar & Grill with all the offence it needed to beat West Side Charlies Bud Light 4-3 sweeping the best of seven finals in straight games. In the bottom of the sixth inning with West Side Leading 1-0 Abbott touched up Jason Hill for a two out grand slam over the left field fence. It was one of only two hits allowed by Hill the other being a second inning single by winning pitcher Ward Gosse.

Winning pitcher Johnny O’Reilly single scored Paul Maher with the winning run. O’Reilly gave up three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts for the win over Shawn Everson (7.1IP, 4R, 6H, 2W, 9K)
