Frank Brocklehurst
 
Frank Brocklehurst enjoyed an 18-year (1960-1977) playing career over three leagues (Senior, Civil Service and Metro).
 
In the St. John's Senior Men's Softball League, Frank was a member of 3 Championship Teams, two as a player (1962-Rams and 1966-London Aces) and one as a coach (1979-Molson). Frank led the Senior League in Doubles twice (1965-1966) and RBIs once (1966). Frank also coached five years in the Senior League: 1979-Molson, 1983-Higher Levels, 1986-Junior 50's and Miller Lite-1989 & 1990.
 
In The Civil Service League, Frank was a member of 2 Championship Teams: 1962-Fisheries and 1976-Fire Department. Frank captured the Sportsmanship & Ability Award (1970) and led the Civil Service League in Home Runs and RBI, both in 1972.
 
In the Metro League, Frank was a member of 1 Championship Team: 1974-Cabot Street.
 
Frank coached at the Senior Men's Nationals in 1980 with the St. John's Capitals and at the Junior Men's Nationals in 1986 with the Junior 50's.
 
Frank was the coach of the 1981 Canada Games team in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
 
Frank also coached several Minor Provincial Championship teams with the Higher Levels Association.
 
Frank was also an active member of the Umpires Association for two years (1974-1975).
 
Frank was Inducted into the St. John's Softball Hall of Fame in 1991.

Francis "Frank" Joseph Brocklehurst (1941-2024)
 
Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Francis “Frank” Joseph Brocklehurst, aged 82 years. 
 
Predeceased by his wife, Alice (nee Kavanagh); parents, Mildred and Stan; brother, Ed; and sister-in-law, Mary Tracey.
 
Leaving with fond and loving memories, his children: Peter (Stephanie), Annette (Hugh) Gaulton, Craig and Krysta (Sheldon) Slade; grandchildren: Erin, Megan, Noah, Luke, Ella, Max, Olivia; siblings: Kevin (Florence), Patsy (Gord, deceased), Paul (Glenda) and Rosanne (Tony); sister-in-law: Marg; brothers-in-law, Joe (Lorna) Kavanagh and Jim Kavanagh; numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of family and friends. 
 
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of 7E of St. Clare’s for the outstanding care and support over the past few days. 
 
Frank was a selfless, kind man who was loved by everyone he met. He will be missed at his favorite stomping grounds, which included Quidi Vidi Lake, Cuckold’s Cove and Signal Hill. He walked these places all of his life and continued to visit them every day.
 
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Friday, January 12th, and Saturday, January 13th from 2 p.m – 4 p.m and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15th from Caul’s Chapel at 2 p.m with inurnment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
