Senior League Kicked Off 58th Season With Double-Header At Lions Park
Sunday, June 1st the five team St. John’s Senior Men's Fastpitch League opened its 58th Season with defending champs Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs defeating NTV Hitmen 4-2 and 3Cheers Pub Bud Light defeating The Bigs 8-0.

Intermediate League Kicked Off 10th Season With Double-Header At Lions Park
Monday, June 2nd the St. John’s Intermediate Men's Fastpitch League opened its 10th Season with defending champs Goulds defeating CBC Junior Canadians 2-1 in the Opening Game and Lafontaine Club Molson defeating Power Conditioning Inc. 9-0 in the second game.

Diamonds Outshined Angels In Coors St. John's Ladies Season Opening Tournament
Sami Kennedy allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out eight as the Diamonds blanked the Angels 9-0 in the Championship Game of the St. John’s Ladies Fastpitch League Opening Tournament.

The NL Bantam Selects defeated Goulds 11-1 in five innings to capture the Provincial Pepsi U18 Boys Softball Title. The Selects became the first Bantam Team to claim the Midget Championship.

U10 Mite Ballistic FUNtastic 16-Team Tournament A Huge Success!
Sixteen teams (Southern Shore-3, Carbonear-2, CBC-2, Clarenville-2, Kelly Park-2, Bay Roberts, Butlerville, CBS, Placentia, & Shea Heights) participated in the U10 Mite Ballistic FUNtastic non-championship softball tournament hosted by Carbonear from July 4-6. A total of 32 games were played (4-per team) with all participants awarded a certificate at the conclusion of the tournament.

CBC defeated Southern Shore 8-7 in the championship game to claim U14 Pee-Wee Girls Pepsi Provincial Fastpitch Championship.

Robbie Greene (NTV Hitmen) became the first pitcher in NL Softball History to Record 21 Strikeouts in a Regulation Game (7-Innings) on Thursday, July 24 in a 6-1 win over the Kelly's Pub Junior Canadians.

U10 Mite Ballistic Grand Slam 17-Team Tournament A Huge Success!
Seventeen Teams (Southern Shore-3, CBS-2, Kelly Park-2, CBC-2, Carbonear-2, Bay Roberts, North Shore, Butlerville, Shea Heights, Goulds and Placentia) participated in the U10 Mite Ballistic Grand Slam Tournament. The event was hosted by Southern Shore from August 22-24. A total of 36 games were played with each team playing four games and all participants awarded a certificate at the conclusion of the tournament.

NL Selects U18 Girls Finished 4th Place At ECSC
The U18 NL Selects Girls finished with a 1-6 Record, at the four team U18 Girls Eastern Canadian Softball Championship played at the Ned Nugent Field in CBS.

Hill United Chiefs 2014 ASA National Champions
Brad Ezekiel, Jason Hill & Stephen Mullaley played key roles in helping Hill United Chiefs secure a second straight ASA Championship in South Bend, Indiana. The Chiefs representing Machias N.Y. and coached by John Hill went 3-0 in Round Robin play and defeated the New York Gremlins 7-4 in the Championship Game. In the title game, Hill was two for three with a home run and four RBI, while Mullaley was two for two with a walk and an RBI. Mullaley was seven for ten with seven RBI earning him Tournament MVP and a 1st Team All-Star Selection.

The Hill United Chiefs went 6-0 defeating the home standing Hallman Twins 3-2 in the Championship Game of the ISC World Softball Tournament. It was the second straight world title for the Chiefs team that included Jason Hill, Brad Ezekiel, Stephen Mullaley and Coach John Hill.

Blair Ezekiel of the New York Gremlins was named to the 2nd All World Team-Infield. 

Abbott To Be Inducted Into ISC Hall of Fame In 2015
Colin Abbott selected to be Inducted into ISC Hall of Fame at the 2015 ISC World Tournament in South Bend, Indiana.

Gosse Winningest Pitcher In Senior League History
Ward Gosse (NTV Hitmen) became the winningest pitcher in the history of the St. John’s Senior Softball League on Tuesday, August 5th with Win #178 in a 3-2 decision over The Bigs, breaking the record held by Ross Crocker.

3-Peat Completed For 3Cheers Pub Bud Light, Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs Earned Silver!

3Cheers Pub Bud Light claimed their third straight Canadian Senior Men's Softball Championship with an 8-1 win over Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs in Charlottetown, PEI. 3Cheers finished the tournament with an 8-1 record.

The second representative from the province, Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs, captured the Silver Medal finishing the tournament with a 6-5 record.

Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs Claimed Senior Provincial Crown
The Kellys' Pub Molson Bulldogs down 3-2 after four innings rebounded to defeat the NTV Hitmen 5-3 to capture their second straight Molson Provincial Softball Championship. Sean Cleary tossed a two hitter with 16 strikeouts to pick up the win, while Robbie Greene took the loss on six hits with 14 strikeouts. Blair Ezekiel had two hits and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs. Brad Ezekiel and Greene homered for the Hitmen.

Angels Soared To Coors Light Ladies Fastpitch League Title
Angels defeated Dream Kitchens 7-0 in game three of the Coors Light St. John’s Ladies Fastpitch League Championship Best-of-3 Final. Brittany Antle scored twice and drove in three runs and Michelle Rideout scored twice and brought home a single run. Jenna Connolly tossed a one hitter for the win, while Amy Corbett took the loss. Callie Langmead had the only hit off Connolly.

Goulds Earned Silver At U12 Squirt Boys Atlantic Cup Challenge, Carbonear Finished 4th
Goulds fell 10-1 to Quebec in the Championship Game of the U12 Squirt Boys Fastpitch Atlantic Cup Challenge in O’Leary, PEI earning the Newfoundland team a Silver Medal.

Goulds finished the tournament with a 4-1 Record, while Carbonear the second team from the province finished in 4th Place with a 1-4 Record.

Boland & Cleary Guided Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs To Senior League Crown
Just as they did in 2013 Shane Boland and Sean Cleary came up big again as Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs won the St. John’s Molson Senior Softball League Championship. Cleary pitched the win and hit a home run and Boland had two hits and a solo blast, as Kelly's won their second straight City Senior Men’s Crown with a 9-3 decision over 3Cheers Pub Bud  Light.

Kelly's took the best of seven final in straight games. It was the 12th sweep of a final in the league’s 58-year history.

Two Newfoundlanders Jason Hill & Sean Cleary have been named to Canada’s National Mens Softball team to represent Canada at the Pan American Softball Championships from October 24 to November 01 in Parana, Argentina.

Lafontaine Club Molson defeated MJR Masonry 11-1 to capture the Molson St. John’s Intermediate Softball Championship. Lafontaine Club took the best of five final in straight games. Johnny O’Reilly pitched the win over Adam Janes. Russell Woodman had three hits for the winners. Troy Leonard, Joey Evely, O’Reilly and Paul Maher each had two hits. Leonard, Johnny O’Reilly and Matthew each homered. Felix Rogers had a solo home run for MJR Masonry.

NOVEMBER 2014

Hill, Cleary & Team Canada Bronze Medalists In Parana, Argentina
Canada with the help of local players Jason Hill & Sean Cleary won the Bronze Medal at the 2014 Men’s Pan American Softball Championships played in Parana, Argentina. Canada posted a 6-1 Record in Round Robin play before losing 1-0 to Venezuela and 5-1 to Argentina in the Medal Round.

Cleary was 3-1 on the mound with two shutouts and 0.47 ERA with 65 strikeouts. Hill batted .143 with a run scored and RBI.

John Hill Named Softball Canada Coach of the Year
John Hill of St. John’s was named Softball Canada’s Coach of the Year. The award was presented with his award at the Softball Canada’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Awards Banquet on November 15 in Charlottetown, PEI. He joins two other Newfoundlanders to receive this award: Fred Jackson in 1991 and Jim Dunphy in 2011.

6 Newfoundlanders Invited To 2015 Senior MNT Selection Camp
Six Newfoundlanders including two “core” players have been invited to attend the 2015 Senior Men’s National Team Selection Camp In May.

Sean Cleary and Stephen Mullaley were selected as among seven “core” players for the Camp. Among the additional 13 players named were Ryan Boland, Jason Hill, Blair Ezekiel and Brad Ezekiel. In addition Softball Canada announced that John Hill of St. John’s will join the Senior Men’s National Team coaching staff as an Assistant Coach.

3Cheers Pub Bud Light Three-Peat:
The 3Cheers Pub Bud Light squad captured a remarkable third straight senior national title in Charlottetown, PEI to become only the third team (75-78 Victoria Bates, 09-11 Kitchener Twins) in Canadian Senior Men's Softball history to accomplish such a feat. The team recorded a 28-1 record in its three titles. Victoria went 30-1 in there four championships, while Kitchener were 27-7.

Sean Cleary Dominates:
Dominant doesn’t begin to describe the season softball pitcher Sean Cleary had in 2014. At the senior men’s championship he earned playoff round MVP honours winning three games while posting a 0.41 ERA with 33 strikeouts. 

On the international stage, he posted a 3-1 record with two shutouts and 0.47 ERA while striking out 65 for the bronze medal winning Canadian entry at the Pan American Softball Championships in Parana, Argentina.   

On the home front he helped Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs capture their second straight provincial senior men’s title by tossing a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts in the final. He was tournament MVP with 2-1 pitching record, with 2 shutouts, a 2.10 ERA and 45 strikeouts.

To end the year, he was selected as a “core” player to attend 2015 senior men’s national team selection camp in May.
