2014 Pan American Softball Championship

Dates: October 24th to November 1st
Location: Parana, Argentina

Day 4 Result: Game #4: Cuba 1 vs. Canada 5 (Final)

Pre-Game Notes:

Sean Cleary on the mound for Canada and Gusbel Plutin on the mound for Cuba.

Game Notes:

Sean Cleary started and went 5.1 Innings. With 1-Out in the Top of the 6th Inning Sean Cleary gave up a lead-off double, struckout out the next batter and then hit the next batter before being replaced by Paul Koert. Paul Koert went 1.2 Innings in relief.

Canada scored three runs in the Bottom of the 4th Inning.

Cuba scored one run in the Top of the 6th Inning.

Canada increased their lead to 5-1 with a pair of runs in the Bottom of the 7th Inning.

Post-Game Notes:

Sean Cleary (5.1IP, 1R, 2H, 1HBP, 0BB, 13K) picked up the win, his second of the tournament, while Paul Koert (1.2IP, 0R, 1H, 0BB, 3K) finished up for Canada.

Gusbel Plutin (4IP, 3R, 2H, 0BB, 5K) started and took the loss, with relief help from Caballero Lavanino Javier (1IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 2K), Roman Gonzalez Alain (0.2IP, 2R, 4H, 1BB, 1K) and Guerra Barsaga Rafael (0.1IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 0K).

3R 4th: Brandon Horn reached on an error to start the inning, Mathieu Roy doubled, Brandon Horn advanced to third base on the play, Gregg Garrity was walked intentionally to load the bases, Andy Skelton singled to score Brandon Horn and Mathieu Roy, Gregg Garrity advanced to second base on the play, Derek Mayson grounded into a 1-6-3 double play (Andy Skelton out 1-6 and Derek Mayson out 6-3) that allowed Gregg Garrity to advance to third base on the play and With 2-Out: Gregg Garrity scored on a pass ball.

2R 6th: With 1-Out: Mathieu Roy singled, Mathieu Roy stole second base and With 2-Out: Joel Langford walked, Derek Mayson singled to score Mathieu Roy, Joel Langford advanced to third base on the play and Brennan Pokoyoway singled to score Joel Langford.
